Katie spent more than 15 years on-camera in television news, working around the country in Eureka, California, Albuquerque, and Detroit, where she won a prestigious Emmy Award as an investigative reporter. She returned home to Denver and worked as the morning anchor and special assignment reporter for KMGH-TV, until she decided to pursue a different path to utilize her expertise that gave her more flexibility and freedom to raise her boy/girl twins.

She found the perfect fit in media relations and strategic communications. For years, Katie was a partner of a boutique marketing and communications agency based in Littleton, supporting high-profile clients state and local public health agencies, hospitals and physician practices, and the local business community. She helped lead marketing and media campaigns, developed messages to resonate with key audiences, and trained executives, doctors, and business leaders for media interviews and potential crises.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Katie left her agency to lead public relations and internal communications for Denver’s safety net hospital. It was an invaluable opportunity to support the community and essential workers during the most challenging healthcare crises in recent history.

Eventually, she felt it was time to reach for the stars and pursue her dream: writing a book. She took a year-long sabbatical to work with a book coach on her memoir. Her first book focuses on her personal challenges as a working mom, trying to juggle her family’s needs and her professional ambitions without losing her sense of self and the joy she experiences with her kids.

Katie is grateful to have the privilege to help individuals and organizations share their stories and propel their messages forward. Her skillful listening and communicating have enabled her to better cover news situations, interview people from all walks of life, and guide clients on how to achieve their communication goals.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
